La première édition du tournoi organisé à la mémoire du Grand Maître International Luc Winants, qui fut durant plus de trois décennies le meilleur joueur belge, se tiendra à Bruxelles le 9 mai prochain.
Disputé en 9 rondes à la cadence de 10 minutes + 5 secondes par coup, le tournoi servira de Championnat de la Francophonie de parties rapides 2026.
La compétition est ouverte à tous. Toutefois, le titre de Champion de la Francophonie sera attribué au premier joueur disposant d’un code FIDE représentant l’un des pays membres de l’AIDEF. Un trophée spécial lui sera remis.
Une dotation totale de 20.000 € est prévue, dont 5.000 € pour le vainqueur.
Le tournoi sera commenté en direct par le GMI Fabien Libiszewski et la WIM Fiona Steil-Antoni.

The first edition of the tournament held in memory of Grandmaster Luc Winants, who was Belgium’s strongest player for more than three decades, will take place in Brussels on May 9.
The event will be played over 9 rounds at a time control of 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move and will serve as the 2026 Francophone Rapid Chess Championship.
The tournament is open to all players. However, the Francophone Champion title will be awarded to the highest-placed player holding a FIDE ID representing one of the member countries of AIDEF. A special trophy will be presented to the title winner.
A total prize fund of €20,000 is guaranteed, including €5,000 for the overall winner.
Live commentary will be provided by Grandmaster Fabien Libiszewski and Woman International Master Fiona Steil-Antoni.
